Wood Materials Recovery
At GreenRenewable, we continually make a positive impact to promote and protect our environment through the reuse of our natural resources. We opened our 20-acre Wood Materials Recovery Facility in Watervliet in November 2013. Here, we collect untreated wood and forest byproducts from towns and municipalities and our associates in the lumber industry.
These materials are sorted and repurposed, becoming our mulches, wood chips, kiln-dried firewood and soil amendments. Leftover materials from these processes are used to power our biomass energy plant in Berlin, New York.
By utilizing the repurposing center, local communities are saving taxpayer money as the material isn’t being transported to landfills further away. The generation of greenhouse gases and reliance on waste disposal is minimized.
